Friday, August 11 (Before Messrs A. F. Quelch and J. Dunnery, J.P.’s.) Traffic Offences Charged with driving without due care and attention, David Gillan was convicted and ordered to pay costs (£1 4s 6d). For parking his lorry further out from the footpath than was permissible, Neil Francis O’Connor was convicted and ordered to pay costs (10s). The Traffic Department (Inspector Simmons) proceeded against Herbert Harold Anderson' on a charge of driving without due care and attention, the charge arising out of an accident at the Five Roads crossing. The defendant was convicted and fined 20s,' with costs (12s).—On a further charge of being an unlicensed driver, he was convicted and ordered to pay costs (10s). The Traffic Department (Inspector Simmons) proceeded against Christopher Thomas Turnbull on a charge of exceeding the speed limit. He was convicted and fined 30s and costs (10s). —On a similar charge, Maxwell McKenzie was convicted and firmed 10s and costs (12s). On a charge of driving without due care and attention, Thomas Holland was convicted and fined 10s and costs (10s).—On a similar charge, William Eric Anderson was convicted and fined 10s and costs (10s). For failing to keep within the white line on the Main South road, Claude John Fairley was convicted and fined 10s. with costs (10s). Civil Case Judgment by default was given the plaintiff in the following case:—H. Swallow and Co. v. John A. Taylor, claim £lO 12s 2d for goods supplied, with costs (£2 14s).
