THE EQUITY OF INTEREST

TO THE EDITOR

Sir,—Mr J. A. Lee in his remarks broadcast from Parliament House last night inferred that we should repudiate our overseas debts, or considerably reduce our interest payments to England. We must assume that Mr Lee is against interest being paid for money borrowed. If that be the case, people who borrow from local finance companies need not worry at all about paying their interest, for. after all, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. I venture to say the interest charged by some of these companies is about double the rate we pay to England.—-I am, etc., Simple Simon.
