LEAVE TO APPLY FOR NEW TRIAL CPer United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 11., An application was made to reserve certain questions of evidence for the Court of Appeal and for leave for the prisoner to apply to the Court of Appeal for a new trial on the grounds that the verdict was against the weight of evidence, when James George Williamson appeared before Mr Justice Reed in the Supreme Court this afternoon for sentence. Williamson was convicted this week of the unlawful use of an instrument with intent to procure a miscarriage. The hearing of counsels argument was deferred till Monday afternoon.
