Recently a Hamilton woman received a letter, enclosed in which was a 10s note. Many years ago this woman had a shop in Ponsonby. and the writer, entering the shop one day, had noticed a half-sovereign lying on the counter, she confessed. She thought it was fixed into the wood, but when she went to touch it found that it was just lying there. Having ..picked it up. she was afraid to put it down in case she was caught, and so she kept it.
