Though he had not published for a number of years LEONARD MERRICK, whose death at 75 is reported from London, enjoyed in his day distinction as a novelist and playwright. He was recognised as an “author's author,” and in 1918 all of his novels to that time were reissued in a uniform edition, with introductions contributed by such eminent men of letters as Sir J. M. Barrie, Sir Arthur Pinero, G. K. Chesterton, H. G. Wells.
