TASMAN AIRWAYS
DELIVERY OF CRAFT FLIGHT PLANNED TO START ON TUESDAY AOTEAROA FROM ENGLAND (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. Aug. 11. The Empire flying boat Aotearoa, with Captain J. W. Burgess in command, will probably be despatched from Southampton for New Zealand next Tuesday and should arrive at Auckland on or about Sunday, August 27, This statement was made
to-night by the Minister in Charge of Aviation (Mr F. Jones). The Minister said that advice to this effect had been received through Union Airways of New Zealand, Ltd. Accompanying Captain Burgess will be Mr W. J. Craig as first officer, Mr J. Cussans, radio officer, and Mr R. A, Phillips, flight steward. The Minister paid that the flying boat will also carry four ground engineers to be attached to Tasman Empire Airways at the base at Mechanic’s Bay. Auckland. They are Messrs Knee, Coulson, McNamara and Bradshaw. Mr Jones said it was expected that the delivery flight would occupy about 12 days to Auckland.
