ATTEMPTS TO SALVAGE THE THETIS An aerial view of the salvage ship Zelo which is being used in the attempts to salvage the submarine Thetis which sank in Liverpool Bay with the loss of 99 lives. The steel hawsers over the side of the vessel form the cradle in which the submarine was to be carried, but stronger cables yet have to be made before the submarine can be lifted.
