“BLANKETS FOR CHINA”
AN URGENT APPEAL The “Blankets for China” Relief Committee in Dunedin has received an urgent appeal from Mrs Selwyn Clark, secretary. Chinese Defence League, c/o Hongkong and Shanghai Bank, Hongkong asking for support for the Red Cross units of the Chinese Red Cross Aledical Relief Commission. The distress and the shortage of drugs, menial equipment, food and clothing_ canrot be over-estimated. In particular Mrs Clark lays stress on the fact that last winter 77 Red Cross units carried on their work of taking care of the wounded and of transporting them with nothing but the most inadequate coverings. Various organisations throughout New Zealand are endeavouring to send blankets within the n»>l two months before the onset of the winter in China. The committee in Dunedin is making an appeal to meet the terribly urgent need for blankets for the coming winter and will rol encroach on ground already covered by the Mayor’s permanent committee and other Chinese relief organisations. . , „ , The committee has received the following subscriptions:—Dr E.
