THE BRIDGES CASE
AMERICAN PRESS COMMENT DEMOCRACY v. COMMUNISM NEW YORK, Aug. 9. (Received Aug. 10, at 10.55 p.m.) The New York Daily News, in a leader on the Bridges case, says: “ When we begin kicking Communists from this country we admit that odr democracy is no longer strong enough to withstand the blast of free debate and we adopt one of the gag methods used by Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin. Anyway, if Communism really is a better system than democracy Communism will overthrow democracy in the long run here and elsewhere.”
