MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Otago Land Board was held yesterday, and was attended by Messrs W. E. Shaw (chairman), C. J. Inder, D. J. Ross, J. S. Adams, and G. W. Stuart. APPOINTMENT TO LAND BOARD It was notified that Donald James Ross had been appointed a member of the board for a term of two years from August 12, 1939. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND Robert Sutherland applied to purchase, closed road adjoining blocks LXXXVII and XCI, Clutha district, area la Or 10.5 p, now known as section 1509 R—To be sold to Robert Sutherland at a price of £3 per acre. The application of Elizabeth Smith to purchase section 29, block I, Woodland s.d., area 42a lr 24p, was reconsidered, and the board's resolution of December 14, offering the area at a price was rescinded.., , The commissioner submitted for. consideration a proposal to substitute S. Carlyon, W. D. Rutherford, Li W. Smith, L. Priest, R. O'Connor, W. Bell, and Robert J. Bell for the present licensees of the Duntroon portion of the islands in the Waitaki riverbed at, present held under miscellaneous licence; also the application of G. C. McCully for portion of the Waitaki islands area.—Resolved to grant a new licence to the. above-mentioned applicants from year to year at an annual rental of £l, and to decline the application lodged by Mr McCully. APPLICATION DECLINED T. T. Ritchie, jun., applied for a reduction in the rental payable under his year to year right to occupy educar tion reserve section 10, block XVIII, Town of Havelock, area, lr.—The application was declined; APPLICATION HELD OVER W. Pett, of Brighton, applied for permission to cart sand across a narrow portion of land lying between highwater mark and the road opposite section 1 of 3 block 111, Otokia S.D.—Held over for report. David William McNeilly applied for a right to occupy section 168. block XIX. Tuapeka East, S.D., 6a 3r lip.— Right to occupy granted at an annual rental of 10s from August 9, 1939. . A. T. Valentine applied to occupy part of section 17, block X, Kurow S.D., 12a, approximately. The balance of the area, approximately 4a. is being disposed of to the Waitaki County Council.—Tenders to be called for the right to occupy the area from year to year for grazing purposes. Owen Reid Templeton applied for permission to occupy the unoccupied part of the Town of Newcastle lying south and west of the Clutha River (157 a, approximately) at present held under miscellaneous licence in the name of the late James Templeton.— Permission granted from year to year, at an annual rental of £2, from June 14. 1940. FORFEITURE Question of the forfeiture of deferred payment licence held by James Bennie over section 7, block XXX, town of Kaitangata.—Licence to be declared forfeited. SURRENDER OF LEASE James and Elizabeth Ah Wing applied to surrender their lease over section 120, block IX, Leaning Rock S.D., area 42 acres.—Surrender accepted. APPLICATION FOR GRAZING Mrs Bertha A. Mitchell applied for permission to graze 300 ewes on section 14, block XIII, Pomahaka Downs Settlement (250 a lr 30p)—Action of commissioner in granting permission to graze 300 sheep for a period of four weeks at 2d per head per week confirmed. Dugal Bell, of Hawea Flat, applied for a year-to-year right to graze in the Young Valley, Makarora —Application declined. OTUREHUA EXTENSION The commissioner submitted for consideration the applications received for renewable leases of sections 1. 2, and-3. town of Oturehu? extension No. 1.
