BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL GOOD PROGRESS MAINTAINED 'From Our Parliamentary Reporter' WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. The Prime Minister (Mr Savage) continues to make most satisfactory progress following the serious abdominal operation performed on him last Friday. The Lewisham Hospital authorities reported this evening that he had had a good day to-day and that he was bright and cheerful. . Mr Savage was visited to-day by the Speaker of the Legislative Council (Mr Mark Fagan) who is an old friend, and by Mrs French who, with h«ir husband, has lived with Mr Savage for many years. Both were impressed by his obvious progress towards recovery. The Minister of Labour (Mr P. C. Webb), who is also in Lewisham with eye trouble, was reported this evening to be very much better. MAKING GOOD PROGRESS FRUIT-GROWERS' SYMPATHY (Special to Daily Times) WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. The annual conference of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation to-day passed a resolution expressing regret at the illness of the Prime Minister and Mr P. C. Webb, and the hope that they may have a speedy recovery. When addressing the conference later the Minister of Agriculture and acting-Minister of Marketing (Mr Lee Martin) said he thought they would all be pleased to know that the reports regarding the Prime Minister were very encouraging.— (Applause.) All those who were associated with him were delighted with the progress he was making.
