STORY AND HYMN CONTESTS FINDING OF THE JUDGES (Pep. United Press Association) ASHBURTON, July 20. The judges’ reports on the last two of the four Dominion competitions in connection with the centenary of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand have been received. In the short story contest five entries were received, and the result was as follows:—Mrs R. S Watson (Ashburton) ‘‘The Clock.” 1: Cantab "The River.” 2; Hospes Conjunx. ‘Plough for God,” 3 The last two remain anonymous. Sixty entries were received for the nymn tune competition. The judge Dr V E Galway reported that not one satisfied the preliminary requirements and as he was convinced that no ungrammatical poem would have been accepted in a words competition he saw no reason why the rule should bo relaxed for music.
