WOMAN’S BODY ON BEACH THE CLAVERLEY MYSTERY RECALLED (Peb United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, July 20. The partly decomposed body of a woman was found washed up on the beach at Taratuhi about two miles north of Claverley at 1.30 this afternoon The discovery was made by Mr N McLean a Public Works bulldozer driver The body which was found at nigh vater mark had no hair arid the feet were missing The features are said ro be clearly recognisable The woman appeared to be middle-aged It is known thal the body was washed ur over night with the tide since Public Works unplnyees working on the Main Trunk tine which -uns beside the road had >of seen it yesterday The police at Kaikoura have been nformed and are investigating the possibility of the body being that of Mrs Patience who has been missing from her home at Claverley since October 4 An extensive search has already been made by a parly of police officers, a huge area of country being thoroughly combed and a big section of beach dug over by de*ectives
