YOUNG FARMERS
ANNUAL EDUCATIONAL COURSE VARIED PROGRAMME ARRANGED The seventh annual educational course for Young Farmers will be held in Dunedin, commencing on Monday evening next and continuing until the following Friday afternoon Already there have been 80 enrolments, representative of nearly every district in Otago and Southland. The programme which has been arranged is on similar lines to those of the past and is very broad in its scope. There are lectures on agricultural and pastoral and other practical subjects, addresses of a character-forming and cultural nature, visits to various points of interest, and time for relaxation. The programme is as follows:
Monday, July 24.—7.30 p.m.: Assemble in Returned Soldiers’ Association rooms, Moray place; roll call, etc; after roll call each lad will be called upon to speak for one minute on his work, type of farming or district. 10 p.m.: Light supper.
Tuesday.—9.3o a.m.; Assemble in Chamber of Commerce board room. Address by Mr P. O Smellie, " Citizenship.” 11 a.m.: Morning tea. 11.30 a.m.: Address by Mr D. S. Chisholm, M.A., headmaster King’s High School, “ Propaganda.” 2 p.m.: Visit Messrs Ross and Glendining’s Roslyn Woollen Mills. Evening: Free. Wednesday.—9.ls a.m.: Address by Dr J. R. Elder, “The New Zealand Citizen and the Empire.” 11.30 a.m.; Address by Mr W G. McClymont, “ The Influence of Sheep Farming Upon the Exploration of Otago.” 2 p.m.: Visit to various insitutions. Acldx*ess at University by Dr H. D. Skinner, “ The Museum in Relation to the Country.” 8 p.m.: Visit to pictures.
Thursday.—9.ls a.m.: Address by Mr H. Ninnis, “Dogs.” 11.30 a.m.: Address by Mr W. R. Brugh, “Shakespeare.” 1.40 p.m.: Visit to Hillside Railway Workshops. Evening: Free. Friday.—Visit to King Edward Technical College. A demonstration and talk will be given by Dr Vernon Griffiths on “ Musical Instruction.” 10.30: Morning tea. 12.30 p.m.: Visit to Community Sing. 2.15 p.m.: Address by Mr A. C. Cameron and others, “ Modern Development in Business.” 3.30 p.m.; Afternoon tea.
