UNAUTHORISED LANDING
AN ITALIAN PASSENGER BELIEVED TO BE PROHIBITED IMMIGRANT (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND. July 19. Described by the police as a prohibited immigrant and refused permission by the Auckland Customs authorities to land when he arrived on Tuesday by the Wanganella from Sydney. Gennero Valenzi, an Italian, aged 44, disappeared from the ship this afternoon and has not been found.
Valenzi travelled as a passenger on the Wanganella. It was said that he was able to speak practically no English. and that the papers in his possession were insufficient even to warrant his being given a temporary permit to land. The authorities ordered his detention on board the Wanganella until further inquiries had been made. Shortly after 1 o’clock this afternoon Valenzi was not to be found.
