FORECAST FOR OTAGO CONDITIONS MAINLY FAIR The following special weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Light to moderate and variable winds and a few further showers are probable, but the weather should be mainly fair, with cold temperatures. Seas slight to moderate. DOMINION FORECAST MILDER DAY TEMPERATURES The following is the official weather forecast for the Dominion: — A weak anti-cyclone extends from the South Tasman Sea on to southern New Zealand, while a shallow depression is located west of the Auckland Peninsula. Indications are for:— Winds.—Between south-west and south-east predominating, fresh in exposed positions on the coast, from Bank’s Peninsula to East Cape; otherwise light to moderate. Seas,—New Zealand waters:- Rather rough at times south of East Cape and in Cook Strait, slight to moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate and variable winds, easterly predominating at first, but a change to south-westerly advancing across the northern portion; seas moderate.

After a frost in the morning the conditions to-day were clear and sunny, with a light to moderate southerly wind. The maximum temperature was 51 degrees, and the barometric pressure was steady, the reading at 5 p.m. being 29.68 inches (1005 millibars). WELLINGTON. July 19.
