MAYFAIR THEATRE
An excellent double-feature programme is at present being shown at the Mayfair Theatre. The first production is “Vivacious Lady,” featuring Ginger Rogers, James Stewart and James Ellison. Stewart and Ellison are seen as cousins who fall in love with a night club entertainer. played by Miss Rogers. Stewart, as a sofeer-minded young botany teacher in a country college is in direct contrast to his pleasure-’oving cousin, and he so impresses the young entertainer that the two are married before the other cousin realises what has happened. The three return tc the little college town, where most of. the film’s amusing action takes place. Stewart, fearing to let his father, the austere president of the college, know of his marriage. lives apart from his wife, whom Ellison takes out to entertainments. Eventually the girl enrols in her husband’s botany class to be near him, and their surreptitious lovemaking during classes provides some hilarious moments. The second picture is “Mr Wong. Detective.” in which a new detective, Mr James Lee Wong, is played by Boris Karloff. The box nlans are at the theatre and the D.I.C.
