COMMUNITY SINGING

A “ back to childhood" day held at the South Dunedin Business Men’s Association community sing at the Mayfair Theatre yesterday was an outstanding success, as well as an interesting novelty, and the large crowd thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment provided. Conducted after the manner of a school, the sing was led by Mr R McKenzie, who, with Dr Noel North, was attired in shorts, and Miss Norma Brown provided some humorous items. Messrs Alex. Swann and J Tomlinson entertainednwith some popular numbers, which included “Alexander’s Rag-time Band," “ Pocketful of Dreams.’ " Rainbow on the River." and ‘The Lambeth Walk.” Mrs Cameron played the music for the sing. The takings amounted to the excellent figure of £32.
