TWO YOUTHS CHARGED ONE SIXTEEN YEARS OF AGE (Peb United Press Association > AUCKLAND, June t. The two youths appeared in court to-day. Both were charged with assaulting William. George Styanta so as to cause actual bodily harm. As one of the youths was only aged 16 years and nine months and was outside the jurisdiction of thePolice Court, he appeared before Mr W. R. McKean, S.M., who sat as a Children’s Court, and was remandedby consent till June 23. As neither the Child Welfare Department nor the boy’s father would undertake the responsibility of looking, after him until then, the magistrate remanded him in custody, and ordered that he be kept apart from other prisoners. The other youth, Bruce Phillips, aged 17 years and five months, appeared before Mr C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., in the Police Court, and was remanded till June 23. He was granted bail in his own recognisance of £IOO and one surety of £IOO, the magistrate directing that if bail was not forthcoming he .kept apart from other prisoners.
