TELEGRAPHIC MATCHES The annual series of telegraphic chess matches for the Bledisloe Cup will be commenced on June 17. The draw for the first round is:—South Island: Canterbury v. Otago. North Island: Auckland v. Wellington. The Otago Club at present holds the trophy, and 20 players will be chosen from the following to represent the province:—W. H. Allen, A. Balk, Dr G. Barnett, I, D. Coombes, J. B. Dunlop, E. F. Evans, H. Hewitt, J. Lang, sen.. J. F. Lang. W. Lang, D. Langley. R. W. Lungley. J. S. M. Lawson, Dr E. Merrington, R. McDermid, A. J. McDermott. F. H. R. Neville, Dr E. Rawnsley. R. H. Sedden, A. C. Twose. A. Ward, R. Watt, Webb, P. D. Williamson, R. E. Williamson, Wood. G. D. Wright. The match will be umpired by Mr T. M. Gillies.
