PIPING AND DANCING

HIGHLAND FESTIVAL CONCLUDED , The most successful piping -and dancing competition held. in Dynedin was brought to a successful conclusion last evening. Each session of the competitions was largely attended; and last evening was no exception. Particular interest was attached .to last "evening's programmed as the' decisions in the different events; decided' the winners of the most points trophies .Competition in all sections was very keen., and good performances were in the South ;' Island . -championship inarches. The judge of the dancing stated that she Was disappointed with the senior' dancing events., as she had expected to witness a higher grade competition. Owing to the new ..rule forbidding.the use of the shillelagh in the Irish jig. the hand, work of the senior boys in the South Island Championship was poor. After the completion of the judging, the,president (Mr Albert Wheeler) presented the most points trophies, championship' certificates( and special -prizes. He -thanked everyone for support, and congratulated the winners.
