ANNUAL MEETING OF OTAGO BRANCH

The annual meeting of tHe Otago branch of the Milking Shorthorn Cattle Breeders' Association was held yesterday and was presided over by Mr D. J. Ross. ... The chairman commented on the fact that several breeders of Milking Shorthorn cattle in Southland had decided to break up their herds. It, was to be hoped that the persons who acquired these herds would continue exhibiting the cattle. The branche's finances were in a satisfactory state, the expenditure during the year having been negligible. ( . . _, The Southland delegate reminded the gathering that the next Royal Show was to be held in Southland and he expressed the hope that many of the Otago breeders would be exhibiting at Invercargill.: - '■■'•"-, The matter of the training of junior judges was discussed, the opinion being expressed that the junior .judges should get a chance to place the exhibits before the senior main made his decision It would be only fair to give the public an idea of the Capabilities .of the junior . judges so that promotion to senior status could be made on the man's judging Qualifications. Society; that junior judges be appointed to all. cattle classes and that they be.given cards on which to list their placings. the cards to be handed in before the senior judges make their decisions. , ;■ u, Messrs D.
