JAPAN'S NOBLE AIMS!

TO THE EDITOR . Sir,—With what a sense of relief your readers must have read the extract "Japan's Aims in China" in yesterday's Times. Instead of our thinking Japan is devastating China we are to understand that she is " reconstructing" China. With such noble intentions towards China we here in New Zealand may now know that even if Japan were to come and bomb our cities, killing hundreds of citizens, and destroying numberless houses, it would all be done with the idea of " reconstruction." Now that we understand, let us stop all this preparation of defence and invite Japan to come and begin her great and noble work of "reconstructing" New Zealand. —I am. <atc, East
