MAORI SONG IN FORM (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND. June 5. A brilliant half,mile by Silver Quex. and pleasing efforts by King Rey. Whirling, and Maori Song were features of the galloping at Ellershe today The No. 2 grass track was open for fast work, the going being excellent. „ _. /TT On the grass Bronze Fire (Hearn; sprinted three furlongs in 38 4-ssec. After running the first furlong in 12 2-ssee. Whirling (Cameron) got to the end of half a mile in 49 l-ssec. He was going well within himself at the finish and gave the impression that he has improved after his race on Saturday. Silver Quex (Gilchrist) sprinted brilliantly over half a mile in 48 2-ssec She was running on well at the end and the effort drew attention to her prospects to-morrow particularly if the going is soft. Besiege (Pratt) was not troubled to complete half a mile in 52 2-ssec. Besiege showed signs of returning to form at Te Rapa. where he ran second, and he looks well.

Tybalt (Gilchrist) covered six furlongs in lmin 16 3-ssec. the last halfmile in 51 l-ssec.

By running half a mile in 49 l-ssec, Armacourt (Gilchrist) demonstrated that she is approaching form. General Ruse (Pratt) sprinted half a mile in 50 2-ssec. Valvern (Cameron) taking 51sec after running the first two in 26sec.

King Rey (Jenkins) completed five furlongs 'in lmin 4 3-ssec. King Rey did his work pleasingly, and after his forward showing in the Cornwall Handicap he will have many friends tomorrow.

Maori Song (Winder) got to.the end of half a mile in 50 2-ssec. He ran the first furlong in 13sec, and impressed by finishing very strongly over the concluding stages. Maori Song has rarely looked better. Royal Dance (Mclnally) strode freely over six furlongs in lmin 19 4-ssec. the last half-mile in 53, 3-ssec. Royal Dance looks none the worse for his race in the Great Northern Hurdles, and the shorter distance to-morrow should be ir his favour.

Spinning Wheel (Messervy) led Valliant (Wiggins) throughout six furlongs in lmin 21 l-ssec, the last halfmile in J 53 l-ssec. Valmint was going very easily, and is in freat heart. Orwere proved too speedy for Wasp over six furlongs in lmin 18 3-ssec, the last half-mile in 53sec. Considering he was under restraint it was a good effort on the part of Orwere. Wasp looks improved after her race on Saturday, and may be capable of a better showing to-morrow Jayola (Messervy) was moving a trifle short while running the last three furlongs of his work in 40sec. Tutor (Fearn) came home strongly over six furlongs to record lmin 21sec. the last half-mile in 52 l-ssec.

Survoy was given light exercise in the middle Although he pulled ,up tender on Monday, Survoy moved soundly, and looks none the worse for his gruelling race.
