TRUBY KING MEMORIAL
PLUNKET SOCIETY’S APPEAL GOOD PUBLIC RESPONSE The response by the public to the Plunket Society’s appeal for funds to provide a national memorial to Sir Truby King has been good, and already in Dunedin, although it is only three days since the appeal was launched, the donations to the fund total over ? 140. The society aims at a fund of £SOOO, of which the sum of £2OOO will be devoted to the upkeep and maintenance of Sir Truby King House, Wellington, and a further £2500 or more will be invested for the purpose of providing postgraduate courses for Plunket and Karitane nurses. The immense value of the Plunket Society’s work in the Dominion is universally appreciated, and it is confidently anticipated that an appeal to establish a memorial to one who devoted his life to the welfare of women and children in New Zealand will receive the public’s most generous support.
