Ministerial The Postmaster-general (Mr_ F. Jones), accompanied by his private secretary (Mr P. W. Sherwood) arrived in Dunedin by the through express yesterday afternoon. Mr Jones will be occupied to-day with departmental business. Mr A. E. Ansell and Mr J. L. Passmore returned from the north by the through express yesterday afternoon. Mr M. J. Moodabe left on his return to Auckland by the through express yesterday. Mr J. E. Macassey was a passenger for Wellington by the through express yesterday.' The Minister of Transport in the Queensland Government (Mr John Dash), who is investigating transport methods in New Zealand, is at present on a visit to Dunedin. Mr Justice Blair will return from Invercargill this afternoon. He will preside at a sitting of the Supreme Court to-morrow, when applications ror discharge from bankruptcy will be heard, and also undefended divorce cases.

Mr J. H. Hall, a former New Zealand journalist, who was director of the New Zealand Pavilion at the ismpire Exhibition. Glasgow, last year has spent six months on the staff ot the League of Nations at Geneva. He will be in England for four weeks before returning to the Dominion by the Strathallan on June 9.

Mr H A. Foote has tendered his resignation from the executive of the Otago Carriers and Customs Agents Industrial Union of Employers, as he has been appointed to a Government position. Appreciation of the good work done by Mr Foote was expressed by members, who wished him success in his new sphere.

Northbound passengers by Union Airways yesterday morning were Mr H McLeod for Christchurch, Miss T. Eggers, Mr H. Jenkins for Wellington. Mr W Higgins for Palmerston North and Mr and Mrs A. G. Mathias for Napier. Southbound passengers were Messrs H. D. Kerr and E. Foster from Wellington. Dr W. Bremner. Messrs H. McLeod and Miss M. Crawford from Christchurch.

Mr Maclean has been appointed to the vacancy on the committee caused by the resignation of Mr B. E. H. Tripp, Timaru. and will ; hold office till September 30, ,1940, when the next election of woolgrowers’ rep- , resentatives is due to take place.
