HOSPITAL RATING

PROTEST AGAINST INCREASE GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY SUGGESTED (Peb United Press Association) HAMILTON, May 16. Protesting against the large increase of approximately 40 per cent, in the proposed levies of the Waikato Hospital Board this year, a representative conference of the contributing local authorities in the Waikato, which met in Hamilton to-day, decided to ask the Government to grant an increased subsidy for the administration of the hospital. The decision also embraced support of the New Zealand Counties* Association and the Municipal Authorities' Association in their efforts to secure the reform of the incidence of hospital taxation which at present was borne only by ratepayers. A deputation will meet the Minister of Health (Mr P. Fraser) in Hamilton this month to seek an increase in the subsidy.
