HOUSING DEPARTMENT
ALLEGED GRIEVANCE OF STAFF MINISTER NOT ATTENDING MEETING (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 10. In a statement to-day covering th« position in regard to the Housing Construction Department at Auckland, the Minister of Housing (Mr H. T. Armstrong) said the statement that it was understood the director and himself would visit Auckland on Friday was entirely without foundation. He had no intention of attending a meeting of the staff. It was true that he would be in Auckland next week, but that visit would be the fulfilment of a promise made some time ago, and he would be engaged on other business entirely. Mr Armstrong said he had no details of any grievance. His advice was that the actions of those who were responsible for what had hapepned so far constituted a serious breach of the Public Service Regulations, and he intended to hand the whole matter over to the Public Service Commissioner, within whose province it properly lay for an inquiry.
