RUGBY LEAGUE TOUR
CHOICE OF OFFICIALS SOUTH ISLAND COMPLAINTS (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH. May 5. Keen disappointment is felt by Rugby League officials and players in the South Island at the manner in which the choice of managers and selectors for the English tour was made. The three leagues in the south, it is felt, have been ignored. Four Aucklanders fill the positions—Messrs J. A. Redwood and G. G. CamDbell as managers and A. T. McClymont and J. A. Redwood as selectors. The feeling in the South Island is that the New 'Zealand Council and the Auckland Rugby League have again displayed a parochial attitude which has always influenced their decisions, in spite of assurances that a touring team was to be a national concern. The south's claims to representation have been forgotten. At a meeting of the Canterbury Rugby League on Monday night a motion will be tabled instructing the league's delegate to the council to put in a notice of motion to have the choice of managers and selectors reconsidered.
