ANNA NEAGLE’S FATHER

TRIBUTE TO HIS CHILDREN CAPTAIN W. H. ROBERTSON (From Our Own Correspondent) (By Air Mail) LONDON, Mar. 27. The late Captain W. H. Robertson left personal articles to his children, who are Allan Robertson (retired naval officer), Stuart Robertson (the wellknown singer), and Anna Robertson (who is known all over the world as Anna the film actr^ps). Mr S. Robertson receives his father’s war medals and rings. To Anna he left a 300-year-old greenstone tiki, which belonged to a Maori princess. “A Maori chieftain gave it to my father.” she said. “ I don’t know whether I shall wear it. It is said to contain the princess’s tears, and might bring tears to my eyes.” Cantain Robertson left the residue of his estate of £IB7B to his second wife, Mrs E. D. Robertson. In his will the testator wrote of his children; “ I express my gratitude for the affection, loving care, and loval duty with which they have blessed their late mother and myself.” “He was a marvellous father.” said Anna Neagle to the Daily Mail, “ I owe him a lot. Quite rightly, he did not want me to become a professional dancer at twelve. He sent me to a boarding school to keep me away from the stage. But when he retired and I reached school-leaving age he said. ‘ If you still want the stage, go ahead.’ “All my studio friends knew and loved him. He used to come and watch production for hours. He gave me lots of useful advice, and always attended my premieres.” Captain Robertson had a brother in New Zealand.
