THE OXFORD GROUP

INCORPORATION PLANS The following cable, dated April 26, has been received from London by the Oxford Group in Wellington: “The unusually large number of 84 members of Parliament added their names to the motion tabled today supporting the Oxford Group’s application to the Board of Trade to form a non-profit association. The motion was originally sponsored by six members of varying parties — Sir Cooper Rawson (Conservative), who gained the largest majority of any member at the last general election; Mr J. E. Crowder, Secretary of the Conservative Foreign Affairs Committee; Sir George Schuster, National Liberal and former Minister of Finance in the Government of India: Messrs Arthur Henderson and D. R. Grenfell, Labour frontbenchers, and Mr Goronwy Owen, Opposition Liberal. The motion calls attention to the petition signed by 207 members of Parliament supporting the Oxford Group’s application on the grounds of the great national and international value of the movement.”
