SOUTH OTAGO BRIDE A wedding of considerable interest in South Otago was celebrated on Thursday morning at the Presbyterian Church, Stirling. The bridegroom was Arthur Ellis, son of Mr and Mrs E. G. Greensmith, of Mount Albert, Auckland, and the bride, Mary Evelyn, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter McSkimming, sen., of " Lesmahagow," Benhar. Some 200 guests gathered to witness the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. W. Comber, of Stirling. Mrs J. L. McSkimming, of Invercargill. the bride's sister-in-law, presided at the organ, on which was placed a bowl of lilies—the central motif in a beautiful decorative scheme carried out by friends of the bride in pink and blue

hvdrangeas and greenery. During the signing of the register Mrs Peter McSkimming, jun., a sister-in-law of the bride, rendered the solo "O Perfect Love."

A lovely picture in her American model gown of heavy maquolia satin the bride came up the aisle with her father. The gown was cut bias-wise on close fitting lines, and was trimmed with buttons down the back to the train, which was full court length. Attached to the train with clusters of orange blossoms was a long veil of real Brussels lace, pin-chased by the bride in Brussels during her recent trip abroad. It hung from a low -placed coronet of orange blossoms. A string of pearls was the bride's only ornament, and she carried a bouquet of Easter lilies.

The bride's sister, Catherine, was the only bridesmaid. Ciel blue silk taffeta fashioned her enchanting frock on period lines. The full skirt billowed from a tight-fitting bodice and was hooped at the sides, where raspberry red velvet ribbon made an effective trimming. The same velvet ribbon outlined the hem and short puff sleeves, the square neckline being finished with a shirred band, of the taffeta. An ostrich feather dyed to match the frock and held in place with raspberryvelvet ribbon, curled in becoming fashion on the bridesmaid's hair. She wore elbow-length kid gloves; and carried a bouquet of gladioli, roses, and fuchsia in raspberry tones. A similar toilet was adopted by the little flower girl, Miss Shirley Collison, of Hastings. Her gown was also anklelength, and she wore a band of raspberry velvet in her hair. The two small page boys. Masters Peter and Campbell McSkimming (nephews of the bride) were courtly attendants in maquolia satin suits and black buckled shoes.

The best man was Mr "Jock" Tennent, of Dunedin. Messrs R. Gibson (Dunedin). and Wilson McSkimming acted as ushers.

A huge marquee on the lawn at " Lesmahagow " accomodated the guests for the wedding breakfast. In a lovelysetting, of massed sweet peas and begonias they were received by Mrs McSkimming, • who wore a handsome gown of heavy raisin georgette, and a hat in the same dubonnet shade, trimmed with an ostrich feather. She carried shot silk roses, Mrs E. G. Greensmith, the bridegroom's mother, was attired in a frock and' threequarter length coat of deep amethyst wool georgette, the coat being bordered in pastel-shaded embroidery. Her hat was of petunia straw and her bouquet consisted of dark red roses. For travelling the bride chose an American model frock of fuchsb taffeta, with accordion pleated skirt, the hemline of which flared outwards to reveal a lining in the new mandalay shade. Her acorn-shaped hat was of mandalay felt, with ribbon trimming, and she carried silver fox furs. Mr and Mrs A. E. Greensmith will reside in Garfield avenue, Dunedin.
