ARAB TERRORISTS
REIGN OF VIOLENCE CONTINUED LANDMINE EXPLODED A LORRY DRIVER KILLED (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) JERUSALEM. Feb. 8. Apparently the terrorism is being continued in order to reinforce Arab speeches at the London conference. A landmine killed a Jewish lorry driver. Two Arabs, believed to be peaceful citizens, were shot. General O’Connor, Governor of Jerusalem, announced that if sabotage continues Arab-owned traffic and Arab passengers will be restricted. British troops are most active, and have rounded up 65 Arabs. They shot dead an Arab who attempted to escape. ROUND-UP BY TROOPS SEVEN REBELS KILLED JERUSALEM, Feb. 8. (Received Feb. 9, at 6.30 p.m.) Carrying out the biggest operations in South Palestine since the beginning of the rebellion, troops searched 22 villages and engaged two bands of rebels. Seven uniformed rebels were killed and four taken prisoner. One hundred were captured during the searches. LONDON CONFERENCE DIFFERENCES AMONG ARABS (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Feb. 8. Efforts were continued until a late hour last night to induce the Palestine Arabs to agree to representation on one delegation, but no finality was achieved in consequence of these efforts to compose the differences between the Arab Defence Party and the Grand Mufti Arab delegates. The meeting arranged for last night, at which the Arabs were to have outlined their case, was postponed, and no meeting was held this morning on account of the weekly Cabinet meeting, while the Arab delegates were present in the afternoon at a reception given by the Arab Centre. The Jewish case will be presented by Dr Weizmann this evening. THE ZIONIST VIEW RESTATED BY DR WEIZMANN LONDON, Feb. 8. Efforts to settle the differences between the rival Arab delegations were continued throughout the day without success. Dr Weizmann restated the Jewish case at St. James’s Palace to-night before the British delegation, and is negotiating with the body of the Jewish Agency. The Zionist view remains that the mandate is a binding instrument involving obligation to facilitate a Jewish national home. The Jews contend that their activities have raised the economic level of the Arabs.
