COLOUR NO BAR
Mrs Brinda Gordon, a high-caste Hindu girl, who married Lieutenant D. L. Gordon last May. denied that her husband is retiring from the Navy. Before sailing with him for leave in England, she said: “It is arrant nonsense that the Navy is objecting to me. I was received aooard •H.M.S. Stork, and the colour question never arose. In Trincomalee the commander-in-chief asked me to dance with him. We are extremely happy, and It is only jealous people who are trying to upset things. The last thing I want to do is to end my husband’s naval career, although I am hoping for a season in London.”
