Ministerial The Minister of Labour (Mr P. C. Webb) addressed a meeting of officers of the Labour Department and employers’ representatives on Saturday morning, after which he travelled to Karitane as the guest of Mr A. W. Douglass. The Minister left by the midnight express last night for the north. Mr C. H. Taylor, of Sydney, is at present visiting relatives in Dunedin. Mr R. C. Love, who is in charge of the constructional work of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition at Wellington, is paying a visit to Dunedin. Mr W. Warren will leave by the through express this morning for Auckland, where he will spend a short holiday prior to his departure for England to join the Royal Air Force. Mr C. P. Hainsworth, general manager of the Centennial Exhibition, was a guest at Wain’s Hotel during the week-end. Mr Hainsworth, who left for Wellington yesterday, spent the Christmas and New Year holidays in Central Otago. Messrs W. E. C. Reid, S. C. Sutherland, and J. S. Monro, who spent a fortnight big-game fishing in the Bay of Islands., returned to Dunedin by air on Saturday afternoon. They made their headquarters at Mr Zane Grey’s camp at Otehei Bay, but owing to the bad weather, experienced poor sport. General Sir Walter Pitt-T aylor, of England, who. with Lady Pitt-Taylor, is on a camping holiday in New Zealand, was a visitor to Dunedin over the week-end. From 1925 to 1928 he was in command of the sth Infantry Brigade at Aldershot, and was director of recruiting and organisation for the War Office from 1929 to 1932.
Northbound passengers by the Union Airway,;, liner on Saturday morning included Mr J. Barnhasel for New Plymouth and Mr G. Waddell, for Wellington. Southbound passengers on Saturday afternoon included Mr S. C. Sutherland, Mr W. E. C. Reid, and Mr J. S. Monro from Auckland. Mr R. Wakelin from Wellington, Mr and Mrs F. M. Galley and Miss E. Calverley from Christchurch, and Miss K, Broughan from Blenheim. Northbound pas engers yesterday morning were Mr Claude for Christchurch and Mr L. N. Ritchie for Napier. Southbound passengers were Miss N. Fogg from Napier and Mr H. G. Doherty from Christchurch.
