GERMAN WARPLANES
PRODUCTION FACILITIES UNEQUALLED IN THE WORLD WASHINGTON, Jan. 7. (Received Jan. 8, at 9 p.m.) Officials of the State Department admitted to-day that Colonel Lindbergh had advised the Government that within a year Germany will seriously challenge United States dominance in the world market for commercial transport planes, due to mass production methods and new manufacturing techniques. Colonel Lindbergh advised the United States to meet the German threat by developing a new and simple experimental plane, models of which could be speedily produced on a mass basis in the event of emergency. He estimated the German air strength at approximately 10,000 first line fighters and bombers, with production facilities for warplanes unequalled in the world.
