Mr and Mrs Barry MacAvoy left yesterday to spend a holiday in Timaru.

Mrs Hunter, of London, who has been the guest of Mrs W. A. Saunders, St. Clair, is visiting the Eglinton Valley.

Anderson, wife of the principal of Scots College, Sydney, was to arrive at Wellington yesterday from Australia, en route to Dunedin, where she will visit her parents. Mr and Mrs Irvine. Mr and Mrs G. M. Prain are visiting Lawrence for the wedding to-day of Mr Roughan to Miss Dowling. Other guests will include Mr D. Lempriere, who recently retired from the position of medical officer of Haileybury College, Hertfordshire, England, and Mrs Lempriere are visiting Christchurch, and have taken a flat at Victoria Mansions for a short time. Mrs Lempriere is a New Zealander, a member of the well-known Baker family, formerly of Dunedin, and a sister of Dr Eleanor Baker-McLaglan. of Christchurch. With Dr Baker-McLaglan, Dr and Mrs Lempriere will spend some time camping in the south. A Christmas party was given by Mrs E. McKenzie at her residence in Rawhiti street on Christmas Eve to celebrate the engagement of her son, Bruce, to Miss Molly Evans, of Timaru.
