Saturday, December 24 (Before Messrs J. J. Marlow, J.P., and G. Stratton, J.P.) Drunkenness Three first offenders for drunkenness were convicted and discharged. Eluded Police Escort Donald Matheson, who appeared on Friday on a charge of drunkenness, was charged with eluding a police escort which was to have put him on the train for Palmerston. He appeared on Saturday morning on a further charge of drunkenness and was remanded in custody until the 11.35 express left for the north, and, in addition, was fined £l.
