NEW ZEALAND SCOUTS

CONTINGENT FOR SYDNEY AN OUTBREAK OF MEASLES SYDNEY, Dec. 23. Because one of the New Zealand Scouts aboard the Awatea contracted measles during the voyage, the entire contingent of about 250 will probably be isolated at Bradfield camp for 14 days. The outbreak was discovered yesterday morning during a medical inspection aboard the ship. The sufferer and two of his mates who had been in contact with him were immediately placed in isolation. The rest of the contingent were examined again, but appeared to be free from infection. The Scouts' medical officer, Dr Moslcy, said the only thing to do was to isolate the entire contingent. The sick boy and his two mates will be taken to a hospital in Sydney. The Scouts' leader, Mr J. Cooksey, said: "We shall not be very greatly affected by the outbreak, except that our own personal camp will be isolated from the rest at Bradfield." MEASLES PATIENT TRANSFERRED TO HOSPITAL SYDNEY, Dec. 23. (Received Dec. 23, at 11 p.m.) The measles patient has been transferred to the Prince Henry Hospital. Sydney, and the remainder have been sent to Bradfield, where, for .the lime being, they will be segregated under medical supervision. The patient is Bryant May, aged 13, of Hawke's Bay. The boys had the freedom of the shiD, swarmed all over the liner, and mingled happily with the passengers. Upon arrival in Sydney Harbour on a warm, bright morning, they were greeted by ferry sirens sounding the " cocadoodle-do." Most of the boys suffered seasickness on their first day out of New Zealand, but after that they found their sea legs, and their appetites set the stewards a merry dance.
