IMPORTATION OF CLYDESDALE HORSES FROM SCOTLAND
A notable shipment of Clydesdale fillies, purchased during his recent visit to Scotland by the Middlemarch breeder, Mr Andrew Carruthers (Ngapuna), arrived by the Orari on Thursday afternoon and were consigned yesterday to Mr Carruthers's Nethertown stud. The quartet represents some of the best strains lately introduced into this country and they should have a beneficial influence on Clydesdale standards in Otago. The shipment comprises the following:—Top left, Knockknock Queen, by Strathore Majestic, first at the Northumberland, Durham and Kelso shows; top right: Tulliechewan Norma, by Self Starter, winner of four first prizes and a championship in Cumberland; bottom left: Mains Lucy, by Bridgebank Masterpiece, a fine filly, but so far without a show ring record, never having been exhibited; bottom left: Bushfield Lady Margaret, by Ardyne Refiner, first and champion at Lockerbie.
