RICCARTON JOCKEYS
HOLIDAY PLANS (Special to Daily Times) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 23. While Riccarton horses will do their holiday racing in all parts of the Dominion, the jockeys from this quarter will be scattered over an equally wide area. Three of them will make a start at Awapuni to-morrow. A. G. Parsons will be on Wild Chase in the Manawatu Cup, in which A. E. Ellis will handle Argentic, and L. J. Ellis will ride Peerless. Parsons will also be associated with Counterblast and Great Flight. He will ride these three horses (as well as others) on other days at Awapuni. also at the Wairarapa meeting. After the first day at Awapuni. the Ellis brothers will go to Ellerslie, where A. E. will ride Willie Win in the Auckland Cup, in which L. J. will ride Dictate, while G. H. Humphries will have the mount on Mazir. These are three of the fancied candidates. Humphries will also pilot Trench Fight, Paper Slipper, and Good Passage throughout the meeting. L. J. Ellis will be on Defaulter in his races, while A. E. Ellis will handle Beaupartir and Foxmond. J. W. Jennings will be riding at the Dunedin, Wyndham, and Invercargill meetings. He will be on Second Innings, while his engagements for southern horses will include some from F Shaw's Wingatui stable. A. Messervy has Montessa and Cape Gabo. as well as M. B. "Edwards's trio, Cocksure, Ponty, and Miss Bluff, among his mounts at Dunedin. Waikouaiti. and Oamaru. H. W. Hibberd is engaged for Lady Leigh. Prudent Prince, Thermidor, and Swingtime at Dunedin, where C. T Wilson will be on Petersham, Master Dingle, Remembo, Brandon, Top Row, and Night Dress. These two horsemen and F. J. Smith, who will also start off at the Dunedin meeting, will then hurry back for Hokitika. Hibberd will remain on the West Coast, to ride H. Nurse's team, but Wilson and Smith may return south for Waikouaiti and Oamaru, where Smith will ride Tint o' Tan, Bouillon and Dracula. J. Murfitt will go south, as he is to ride Recollection in hurdle races at the Dunedin and Invercargill meetings. A Leach will be on Sir Rosenor On the same circuit. D. O'Connor will ride Sovereign Lady at Dunedin, Waikouaiti, and Oamaru, also Aggravate at the two last-named meetings. A. Stokes will start at Hokitika, where he will ride Arrow Rose and Metric, and then will do the first day at Greymouth. before going to Waikouaiti and Oamaru, where he will handle Nightdress. Wandarobe. and Chanteur. C. Stokes will do the south trip with E. Parker, and will ride Golden Chest.
