Miss Pat Hanlon left yesterday to spend Christmas at Temuka.

Miss Ngaire Walls and Mrs Norman Henderson will leave to-day on a three-weeks' motoring tour of Marlborough Sounds and Nelson.

Mrs James Begg and family and Miss Margaret Webster (Timaru) will spend the Christmas vacation at Bendigo. ¥ * ¥

Miss Winifred Gardner left yesterday to spend the Christmas vacation with her aunt, Mrs Frank Wilkinson, of Merivale, Christchurch.

Mr and Mrs E. R. de Joux and family will leave during the week-end to spend the Christmas vacation at Ophir.

Mr* J. S. Jack and family left by the Maunganui on Tuesday to spend the holidays in the North Island.

Miss Amy Gapper left yesterday morning to stay with her grandparents, Mr and Mrs H. E. Gapper, of Temuka.

Miss Eileen McCurdy will leave on Christmas Day on a visit to Hokitika, where she will be the guest of her sister. Mrs Arnold Perry.

Mrs Alex. Thomson, of .Dalmore, and Mrs Cowan, of Palmers'on, are making a tour of the Lakes District.

Miss Kathleen Hounson and Miss Marjory Mitchell, of North-East Valley, left yesterday for Lawrence to attend the wedding of Mr Roughan to Miss Dowling.

Mrs H. S. McLean left on Tuesday morning by airliner to join a party of friends in touring the North Island by caravan.

Miss Mary Thomson will spend Christmas and New Year with Mrs Shepherd, of Otira.

Miss Zeitha Johnstone will leave on Monday on a holiday visit to Melbourne.

Miss Joyce Thomson, assisted by her parents, Mr and Mrs F. D. Thomson, of Hampden, entertained her school friends and fellow-prefects of the Waitaki Girls' and Boys' High Schools a. a farewell dance held on December 14 in the Peter Pan Hall, Oamaru. The hall was prettily decorated with orange Iceland poppies, intermixed with blue lupine and larkspur. During the evening, supper was served in the Star and Garter Tea Rooms adjoining the hall. Music for dancing was supplied by Mr Frank Mitchell, extras being played by the Misses Noeline and Joyce Thomson.
