ENCOURAGEMENT OF LOCAL INDUSTRY
TO THE EDITOR Sir. —At the present time we have all been asked to buy New Zealand goods. This. I take it, applies even to books which are published in New Zealand, but on making inauiries only the other day at a local bookseller's for a book by a New Zealand author published only recently I was told by the firm that it had no copy in stock. In addition, it did not even offer to get one. Such an attitude is certainly small incentive to New Zealand authors, and must be most discouraging to a New Zealand author who has produced a book of a high standard. The book I refer to is " Out on the Road." by Ralph Byers— I am, etc.. Encourage N.Z. Authors. December 23.
