FINALS FOR WINGATUI (Special to Daily Times) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 22. The weather was fine but cold when work at Riccarton started this morning, Drizzling rain fell during the breakfast interval, but it cleared for the later work. The No. 1 grass track was in fair order after the rain that fell the previous day. Royal Chief and Settlement did the best sprint of the morning, the former being half a length in front at the end of half a mile in 49 l-ssec. These two will not be required to race during the holidays, but they will be ready to show some form again early in the New Year. , „ , Sovereign Lady opened the ball by running a mile in Imin 43sec, after doing the first half in 50 2-ssec. She looks in great order for southern engagements. , . Capital and In the Dark took Imm 37 3-ssec to run seven furlongs. Golden Chest beat Bouillon over five furlongs in Imin 7 4-ssec, Laoy Leigh following in Imin ssec, going freely all the way. , , . Capricious did half a mile easily in 55 4-ssec.

Wine Card beat Night Dress over a mile in Imin 46 4-ssec, after doing the first half in 51 3-ssec, after which they were going comfortably. Going on from a stand. Moorsotis and Prudent Prince took 52sec for half a mile, but did the first three furlongs in 37 3-ssec. The Duel gave Chit Chat and Grin* l ] a start and beat them easily over half a mile in 52 2-ssec, Garonne, jumping off clear of Rebel Star and Rebel Queen, did three furlongs in 38sec and seven in Imm 31 4-ssec. the othei pair taking Imm 33 4-SS6C Tantivy beat Palmyra over five furlongs, taking 51 2-ssec for the last four. , , Synthetic was not hurried over six furlongs in Imin 22 4-ssec, Montessa sprinted three furlongs up the back in 38 l-ssec. Great Baby ran half a mile along the back easily in 56sec, Real Lady following in 54 2-ssec. Kilrobe was well clear of Cape Gabo over seven furlongs in Imin 32sec, the first three being done in 37 4-ssec. There was not much between Lord Hawke and Second Innings at the end of half a mile in 51seo.
