LONDON. Nov. 24.

In addition to their value in the rapid carriage of passengers and mails, the accelerated services on Empire air routes are proving of advantage in regard to many special forms of freight traffic in which speed constitutes a vital factor. Such consignments range from fresh fruit and flowers to loads of • specially-selected oysters. Regarding oysters, further news has reached London of the success attending the dispatch of Australian oysters by flying boat from Sydney to Singapore and Penang. Since the first consignments. the demand for these airborne oysters has increased steadily and. apart from consignments reaching Singapore by flying boat, additional shipments are now going on by air from Singapore to Penang. The oysters are packed in cans of sea-mud, and are found to be as fresh and sweet ot the completion of the voyage as when put aboard the flying boats In Australia.

Plans are being discussed for bringing through by air from Australia, in the fruit season, special consignments of nectarines, strawberries, and other luxury fruits. Up-to-date hostesses in Singapore have in mind the arrangement of special " sky-way ” menus, featuring a number of delicacies which have arrived by air.
