Mrs J. C. Easton was hostess at a morning tea party on Tuesday in the Otago Women's Club, given -in honour of the hostesses who have given her " bon voyage " parties. Tea was served in the small lounge, which was charmingly arranged with bowls of pink antirrhinums. Those present were Mesdames E. H. Runnerstrum, H. B. Elder, E. McKenzie, W. Lane. A. Gregory, J. B. Misses Joan Harper and Jean Dunlay were joint hostesses at a party on Saturday last at the latter's home in Roxburgh. The guest of honour was Miss Lexie Geddes. who is leaving the district. At the annual break-up ceremony of the Popotunoa School, held on Saturday last, opportunity was taken by the people of the district to bid farewell to the teacher. Mr S. Woods. Mr W H. Melton, in a neat speech, presented Mr and Mrs Woods with a cheque, and spoke of the former's splendid teaching abilities in regard to both indoor and outdooor work. Miss Mary Anderson presented little Miss Alwyn Woods with a small token of affection on the occasion of her departure from the district. Mr Woods suitably replied, after which the pupils gave a delightful concert of varied items.

Mr and Mrs G. W. Rcid gave a novel Christmas party and dance on Saturday last at their home in Highgate to celebrate the engagement of their son Winston to Miss Daphne Samson, and also the homecoming of their daughter Joy.
