COMMERCE AND FINANCE

LOCAL AND OVERSEAS MARKETS

THE SHARE MARKET DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE CHIEF INTEREST IN AUSTRALIAN SCRIP LITTLE CHANGE IN VALUES Little change in price levels was seen on the Dunedin Stock Exchange yesterday afternoon, but the demand for leading Commonwealth industrials and Australian mining enterprises was well maintained. Turnover for the day was limited to three transactions. Banking shares were not well supported, but values for the lines quoted were virtually unchanged. Insurances, shipping, and meat preserving scrip were the dull sections again.

Although a few more sellers of Commonwealth industrials entered the market, they wanted prices that were far beyond buyers' limits. Australian Glass. British Tobaccos. G. J. Coles, and Sydney Woolworths were the most sought after shares. Sydney Woolworths had a reported sale at the previous day's price of £1 Is 10d. A slight advance on the previous offer for New Zealand Breweries failed to arouse any interest among sellers, who kept off the market. Australian mining scrip received fair support, and Mount Lyells and Mount Morgans finished appreciably firmer. YESTERDAY'S TRANSACTIONS Sales on 'Change AFTERNOON CALL" £ s. a.
