CHRISTMAS PAIRS The popularity of the Christmas Pairs tournament is shown by the very large entry attracted—loß. The usual practice is for play to be commenced about 2.30 a.m. on Christmas afternoon, but as Christmas Day this year falls on a Sunday, play will be started on the Monday at 8.30 a.m. Players should note that they must appear in the regulation costume —white or cream pants and shirts and the club's blazer. CENTRAL OTAGO , Saturday being an off day, some of the Central clubs played games among the members, Cromwell Club holding a progressive pairs, and Clyde a pairs competition for tankards presented by Mr G. Orr, a former member. These were won by G. Kitto and P. Edmonds who defeated C. J. and J. L Davidson by 16 points to 10 The next event of interest will be the Alexandra Club's annual tournamentSingles. Pairs. Rinks, and Mixed Rinks, commencing on December 26 Good entries have been received, and as this tourney is run on good lines, only fine weaiher is required to make it thesuccess it usually proves to be. Miller's Flat follows with a three-day tourney at the New Year, and although this event has not been so long established, it is now very popular, and the club has no difficulty in filling the green. A Central rink will take part in the Inveicargill tournament at New Year The points gained in the first half of the shield competition are as follows: Cromwell 44. Wanaka 36. Clyde 344 Alexandra 28.
