CHRISTMAS SERVICES

There were large attendances at the Christmas services at East Taieri Church on Sunday, when appropriate sermons were preached by the Rev. Mr Read. The choir rendered an excellent programme of Christmas music, with Mr James Mcßryde at the organ. After the morning service, an adjournment was made to Kinmont Hall, where a presentation was made to Mr Moreton (superintendent of the Sunday school). The presentation was made by Masters Ernest Mcßryde and Gordon Douglas, while Mr Read and Mr Cole acknowledged the services Mr Moreton had given to the Sunday school. Suitable acknowledgment was made by Mr Moreton. The choir sang the anthems ’* Break Forth Unto Joy” and “Near Bethlehem." Three carols were included in the programme—“Still the Night." “ The Wondrous Story," and “ Christmas Bells.” Solo items were given by Mrs Henderson, Miss Liddle. Mr J. Gordon and Master K. Walker. At Allanton. in the afternoon, a similar service was held, the soloists being Miss M. Martin. Miss Wyllie. and Miss Lindsay
