CHINESE WAR ORPHANS NEW ZEALAND'S AID APPRECIATED JAPAN’S RUTHLESS CAMPAIGN iPer United Press Association* NAPIER, Dec. 20. The following cablegram has been received by Mr W, E. Barnard, M.P., from Madame Chiang Kai-shek: “ Have just arrived at Chungsing, and received a total of Chinese dollars 91,000; am mailing receipts. Please convey my heartfelt thanks to the committee and contribu'ors. Since leaving Hankow in October I have been accompanying the Generalissimo on an inspection of the several battle fronts, and thereby have been able personally to visit children’s homes in the various localities. The local committees are doing excellent work in car-* ing for war orphans. “ The last two months’ trip has provided convincing evidence that Japanese ruthless and inhuman bombing of innocent civilians throughout the interior continues with unabated ferocity. The resistance we have carried on during the past 17 months will be continued with intensified determination.”
